Cassie has been restful since yesterday as we try to keep her comfortable. She appears to be hunkered down and fighting as she lays in bed. The Seizure has added another dimension to our experience as she is now being followed by a team of Neurologists. The teams following us include: Neuro-Surgery, Rehabilitation, Infectious Disease, PICU Pediatricians, and Neurology. We continue to be impressed with the depth of professionals and facilities that are in play to help our girl beat this.

This afternoon they will try to place a central PICC line again. We really hope this one works. With the various antibiotics, pain medicine, and blood tests that will make it easier on her. They will also be removing her sutures from the back of her neck while she is sedated. Her left eye is now swollen closed along with her right eye, that should start going away today or tomorrow.

  1. Ali,

Just wanted to say that Ryan and I have been thinking about Cassidy and your whole family a lot. With our experience with Jett (though small when compared to Cassie's) still fresh in my mind, I can imagine how very hard it is to see your little one go through something like this. I also know how difficult it is to have kids at home that need you, too, but you just can't be with them. I know you just want Cassie home and well with her family. Hang in there until then! Little ones that have to deal with this kind of stuff must be blessed with great strength--and their moms need that, too! I know the Lord will continue to strengthen you even when it seems like too much. We pray for you every day that Cassie will start to heal and you will be able to endure it all.

  2. Oh Ali, I'm so sorry. I'm just sitting here bawling. Can't believe all that your sweet family has had to go through. Can't imagine her laying ther with both eyes swollen shut! I know I'm sounding like a broken record these days, but we'll keep praying for Cassie and thinking of all of you. Love you so much!

  3. It was so good to talk to you the other day Ali. I was hoping you'd be home this weekend, but alas there is another plan. Hang in there. I feel homesick for you. We will keep praying, for Cassidy to get well and you to all be home soon. I find myself telling your story to people and asking them to keep you in their thoughts and prayers, too. We'll just keep praying...:)

  4. i'm trying to be strong and patient but i'm just sad tonight and in tears. i just want her better and home! love you sweet girl.
